Arniston Trading

Compliance & Industry Standards

Responsible trading. Reliable supply. Quality without compromise.

Integrity throughout every transaction

At Arniston Trading, compliance, transparency and responsible business practices are fundamental to the way we operate.

International bunker trading involves a complex network of shipowners, operators, charterers, physical suppliers, traders, financial institutions and vessels operating across multiple jurisdictions. We recognise the importance of understanding the parties involved in every transaction and maintaining appropriate controls throughout the trading and supply process.

Our compliance framework is designed to protect our clients, counterparties and business by combining KYC and due diligence, sanctions screening, responsible counterparty selection and marine fuel quality assurance.

KYC & Counterparty Due Diligence

We maintain a structured Know Your Customer (KYC) process for customers, suppliers and other relevant counterparties.

Before establishing a business relationship, we seek to understand the identity, ownership and nature of the business of the parties with whom we trade.

Our objective is to establish transparent relationships with reputable counterparties and identify potential compliance risks before entering into a transaction.

Arniston Trading is committed to conducting its activities in accordance with applicable laws, international sanctions and trade restrictions relevant to our operations.

As part of our compliance process, relevant counterparties and vessels may be screened against applicable sanctions and restricted-party information. Particular attention is given to ownership and control, vessel identity, trading patterns, jurisdictions and other factors that may affect a proposed transaction.

Where appropriate, enhanced due diligence may be undertaken before proceeding with higher-risk transactions.

We also maintain a commitment to responsible business conduct, including principles relating to anti-money laundering, anti-bribery and anti-corruption.

Responsible Supply Chain

Our compliance responsibilities extend beyond our customers.

The quality and reliability of a bunker supply depend significantly on the physical suppliers and other parties involved in delivering the product.

Arniston Trading therefore seeks to establish and maintain relationships with reputable physical suppliers and trading counterparties across our global network.

When selecting supply solutions, we consider not only commercial terms but also factors such as supplier reputation, operational capability, product quality, compliance considerations and previous performance.

This approach helps us maintain a dependable global supply network while supporting responsible and transparent trading practices.

Fuel Quality & Industry Standards

Quality assurance is a fundamental part of marine fuel procurement.

Arniston Trading works with established suppliers to source marine fuels according to customers’ agreed specifications and applicable international requirements.

Marine fuels may be supplied in accordance with the applicable ISO 8217 marine fuel specification, including the current ISO 8217:2024 standard where contractually agreed, together with applicable requirements under MARPOL Annex VI and relevant sulphur regulations.

Depending on the product and supply location, this includes conventional and low-sulphur marine fuels such as:

Product specifications and requirements are established as part of the individual supply transaction, taking into account the vessel’s requirements, applicable regulations and availability at the relevant port.

From Nomination to Delivery

Compliance and quality control do not end once a supplier has been selected.

Our team coordinates closely with clients, suppliers, agents and other relevant parties throughout the bunker procurement process, from initial enquiry and nomination through to delivery and documentation.

We aim to ensure that key commercial and operational requirements — including fuel grade, specification, quantity, delivery location and timing — are clearly communicated and appropriately documented.

Where required, supporting documentation relating to the supply and delivered product is obtained and maintained as part of the transaction record.

Our Commitment

For Arniston Trading, compliance is more than a regulatory requirement. It is an essential part of building long-term relationships and conducting business responsibly in the international marine fuels market.

Through careful counterparty selection, structured due diligence, sanctions awareness, responsible sourcing and attention to fuel quality, we aim to provide our clients with confidence at every stage of the transaction.

Responsible trading. Reliable supply. Quality without compromise.
